My friend and I got into a long discussion over whether or not this is a genuine photo. We both seem to agree that the writing on the shirt is undoctored, however the face doesn't seem right. All of us have a picture somewhere in which our faces seem distorted, which makes me think this might have been this gentleman's actual expression. Our general consensus is that it looks like someone put a funnier face over the original man's face. Either way, I'm very grateful for the "pick-me-up".
There was a NOVA episode this year that had a guy (at MIT?) who has written software to help figure out if an image has been photoshopped.
ReplyDeleteBesides looking at things like pixel blurs and boundaries, it figures out the light sources. It looks to me like another face has been inserted into the ellipse beneath the ball cap, in part because the lighting seems wrong, and in part because the face looks like it's staring out at a different angle from the rest of the head.
Either way, it's a funny image.
